Art Is More Important, 2024
Porcelain decorated with cobalt oxide
12 x 210 cm

The work was inspired by the tale of the stone soup, where individuals shared small parts of their food to create a communal meal. It features bowls as primitive forms of human need, each distinctly marked by the artist's hand pinching, emphasizing hands and the intimate process of making. On the wall, there were two slogans: "Food is more important" in English and "Art is more important" in Brille. The artwork confronts the perception of art's value and relevance to the ordinary public, questioning the inherent meaning of making art. It challenges the conventional format of exhibitions, particularly in the context of the kunstpodiumT project, which often turns into an art competition among participants. Inspired by relational art, as exemplified by Rirkrit Tiravanija, the artist envisions the role of an artist as a facilitator of shared experiences. This piece invites viewers to reflect on the artistic process and the core essence of what constitutes an art piece, fostering a deeper engagement with the general public. Through the interaction, the artist seeks to define the specific moment that artefacts sublime into art, encouraging communal participation and dialogue.
