Fabricating Permanency

Fabricating Permanency, 2024
ink-jet prints, tracing paper, paper clay, pigment
This artwork features numerous red paper-clay dots dispersed randomly across the wall, meanwhile, vaguely hints the image of a red flag. At the center, a frame encloses a series of email between the artist and a friend, both left their hometown. The conversations, with some redacted, reflect a haunting fear of expression, visualising a form of self-censorship. The artist play with the mechanism of semiotics that how meaning is form and the role of painting in the process. The work explores the interplay between text, personal experience, form, color, and visual association.
