Something In-between
Collaborating with Jildau Nijboer, we explored the basic human desire for communication and its possibilities. We dealt with the indestructible but invisible border between two individuals by working together in a studio with a vast transparent wall separating us. To exchange observations, interventions and views without verbal language, we paint, write and paste images on our sides of the transparent wall. The wall is also a window, indicating two unique perspectives from different bodies. An interesting aspect that comes with working and communicating through a transparent canvas is; the more you want to speak to the person on the other side, the less space is left for receiving and reacting as the transparent barrier will become covered and fill up.
