The Bed
Untitled (The Bed Series), 2022
Thread, bedsheet, watercolour
180 x 200cm
Untitled (Bed series) investigates the relationship between the traces of human existence, objects and art. Stretching a bedsheet seems to mock the artist’s struggle as a painter, which also points at the fluidity of the border between art and non-art. By indicating the lint of the artist’s old bed sheet with thread, a ghostly imprint of a universal human form emerges from the area where the artist frequently slept. The attempt was to retrace and archive the invisible experience of gone suffering, while affirming the artist’s identity as an ordinary human. The private space revealed to the public also helps remind us of all the stories lived by the objects in the store.
